Former England cricketer Andrew Flintoff has revealed his devastating regret over the last time he saw his daughter, Vinnie O'Connor, who died in a car crash in December 2018.
In a heartbreaking interview with The Times, Flintoff said he missed a call from his "little girl" just hours before she was killed.
"I missed a call from her at 10.30pm, and I thought, 'I'll call her back in the morning'," Flintoff said.
"She was only 19. She had her whole life ahead of her."
Flintoff said he had been planning to meet up with Vinnie and his other children that weekend.
"I was going to go and see her that weekend, but I got a call on the Friday night to say she'd been in an accident," he said.
"I just remember thinking, 'This can't be happening. This isn't real'."
Vinnie was a passenger in a car that crashed in Lancashire.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Flintoff said he has been struggling to come to terms with her death. "I just keep thinking about all the things I'm going to miss out on," he said.
"I'm going to miss her getting married, having kids...
"It's just so unfair."
Flintoff said he is now determined to raise awareness of the dangers of drink-driving.
"I don't want anyone else to go through what I'm going through," he said.
"If I can save one life, it will be worth it."
Flintoff has set up a foundation in Vinnie's memory, which aims to educate young people about the dangers of drink-driving.
"I want to make sure that no other family has to go through what we've gone through," he said.
