Pierre Poilievre's Conservatives Reach Highest-Ever Lead Over Justin Trudeau's Liberals
Canadians Worried About Their Future
Poilievre's party has vaulted ahead in the polls by harnessing post-pandemic anxiety. The data for preferred prime minister also shows a narrowing lead for the Conservatives. Ipsos' most recent poll for Global News shows that Pierre Poilievre's Conservative Party is significantly ahead of Justin Trudeau's Liberals, with 35 per cent of Canadians saying they would vote Conservative if an election were held tomorrow, compared to 30 per cent who would vote Liberal.
Poilievre's Polling Momentum Continues
Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre's polling momentum continues to chug along with 40 per cent of Canadians saying they would vote Conservative if an election were held tomorrow, compared to 30 per cent who would vote Liberal. This is a significant increase from the 33 per cent of Canadians who said they would vote Conservative in Ipsos's previous poll in September.
The poll also shows that Poilievre is now the preferred choice for prime minister among Canadians, with 33 per cent of respondents saying they would prefer to see him as prime minister, compared to 29 per cent who would prefer Trudeau.
