GLENDALE, Ariz. – Tristen Newton led the UConn Huskies to a decisive 75-60 victory over the Purdue Boilermakers in the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship game on Monday at State Farm Stadium.

The Huskies, who claimed their first national title in 1999, become the first team to repeat as champions in 17 years.

Newton, a junior guard, scored a game-high 23 points and dished out eight assists for UConn. Adama Sanogo added 15 points and 15 rebounds for a double-double, while Nahiem Alleyne chipped in with 14 points.

Trevion Williams led Purdue with 22 points and Zach Edey added 15 points and 11 rebounds. However, the Boilermakers struggled from the field, shooting just 37.5% for the game.

UConn dominated the paint, outrebounding Purdue 41-31 and scoring 36 points in the lane. The Huskies also forced 14 Boilermaker turnovers, which they converted into 19 points.

The victory marks UConn's sixth national championship overall. The Huskies have now won every time they have reached the championship game.

Monday's game was a rematch of the 2021 championship game, which UConn won 60-51.
